Abstract

In this study, effort is made to see the effect of micron size powder particle of SiC on dielectric fluid used in electrical discharge machining (EDM) of EN 31 steel. The effect of input parameter such as tool material, peak current, pulse on time and concentration of powder particle taken as input parameter. Taguchi design of experiment L18 orthogonal array used to plan the experiment on newly made setup for PMEDM. The EDM performance determined as MRR, TWR and surface roughness. Experimental results show machining of EN 31 steel alloy with copper electrode tool material gives better performance compare to brass tool electrode.
