Abstract

This paper describes a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) controlled wheelchair with embedded intelligence and a distributed control system. Changes in EEG signals from electrodes placed on the sensorimotor areas of the scalp are used to select predefined locations in a room. The output of the selection is transmitted to the wheelchair distributed controlled system which navigates it past obstacles to the selected location. © 2008 Springer-Verlag.
