Abstract

Abstract: The distribution of the greater grison (Galictis vittata) in México goes from southern Tamaulipas and eastern San Luis Potosí, to the south along the Gulf coast to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, continuing through Chiapas and all of the Yucatán Peninsula. However, this species has not been recorded for the Selva Lacandona region, Chiapas, México. The purpose of this note is to report the first two reliable records of the species for this region of México. These records also constitute a contribution to the ecological knowledge of this species, as they demonstrate their presence in landscapes altered by human activity. Keywords: Mustelidae, Selva Lacandona, camera-trapping, greater grison.
