Abstract

Treatment with insulin is not a precise science!!! Many different types of insulins and insulin regimens are employed (Chap. 2). The choice of an insulin regimen will ultimately depend on an individual's lifestyle, ability to administer and cope with insulin therapy, and their likely compliance. In this chapter the practical steps to be taken in initiating insulin therapy and how to adjust insulin doses in people on insulin therapy are considered.
