Trabajo con una familia, un aporte desde la orientación familiar / Work with a family, contribute from the family guidance

Abstract

This paper describes the intervention of a family in 2008. During the intervention there were developed several sessions because the child's grandmother noticed problems. This intervention was based on action research. Sessions took place in the Gesell chamber of Universidad Libre de Costa Rica, under the supervision of M. Sc. Gerardo Casas, Headman of the Social Work Unit at the Hospital Nacional Psiquiátrico. In this particular family, rules and limits setting were hard for the parents. This paper presents the achievements reported by the family in each session. It is concluded that the family has a huge change and learning capacity, which allows them to apply the necessary adjustments for growing and strengthening. The intervention eased rapprochement between father and son, and this changes the whole family system.
