Abstract

The research on gas welding of cast iron has been Carried on aiming a rapid forming of a greater deal of graphite on the deposit metal increasing ferrite on it. The following result were obtained using the welding rod containing (Si+Al)% of 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7%. (1) With (Al+Si)=3.0•4.3% welding rod is easily made. (2) If the amount of Al exceeds 2% the welding operation become difficult. (3) The greater the contain of (Al+Si)%, the welding results the greater deal of graphite and smoother surface. (4) With addition of Al, the products are machined with ease. (5) Weldability is good. © 1948, JAPAN WELDING SOCIETY. All rights reserved.
