Ophthalmomyiasis is induced by the invasion of ocular tissue by fly larvae (maggots). It is classified regarding its location into ophthalmomyiasis externa, characterised by the involvement of orbital or extraocular tissue, and ophthalmomyiasis interna, when larval invasion of the globe is seen.
