The stay in neonatal care units coexists with the physical, cognitive and / or emotional conditions of the newborn and his family. Promotion and prevention programs offer strategies for the care and monitoring of the newborn. Introduction: Health education shows benefits for the care of the baby with the participation of parents, contributes to well-being and promotes attachment. Material and methods: The logical framework methodology defined the needs of the population, with evidence that the program was designed. The volunteer participants were fathers, mothers and caregivers of neonates in the neonatal unit, the piloting was carried out in six weeks. Results: The Neoparentes Program was developed from four topics in different conversations, with different moments. The pilot registered 188 visits from mothers (48.8%) and fathers (14.0%). The program perception survey was applied to 45% of the parents and 90% of the professionals, showing a high level of positive perception with aspects of the program. Conclusions: Ratifies the need for promotion and prevention actions in critical units. The value for parents of knowing the development and transfer strategies during the stay and departure from the unit. Professionals confirmed contributions to promote adequate care.
