Renal dysplasia and benign ureteropelvic polyps associated with hydronephrosis in a foal

Abstract

Renal dysplasia may develop in utero with or without urinary tract obstruction, and the dysplasia may be unilateral or bilateral. Hematuria is a frequent finding in all species when proliferative of inflammatory diseases cause hydronephrosis. It is possible for blood clots to be observed in urine at the end of urination, even though microscopic analysis of a sample of the urine collected at midstream did not reveal RBC.
