Abstract

The furanosesterterpene variabilin was isolated from the sponge Sarcotragus. From a chemical point of view, the family Irciniidae has been the source of furanosesterterpenes, and especially variabilin is an important chemotaxonomic marker for the family Irciniidae. © 2007 Verlag der Zeitschrift für Naturforschung.
