The results of dietary treatment of obesity in a series of 40 patients is presented. During a short initial inpatient stay and subsequent outpatient follow-up, a mean weight loss of 10.34 kilograms was achieved. A proportionate weight loss was observed in all grades of obesity. Men were shown to lose more weight than women. Follow-up 5 years later by questionnaire in 21 of the 40 patients showed a mean regain in weight of 2.9 kilograms.
