Abstract

Fluorescein is one of the most potent artificial dyes. It was first synthesized in 1871 by Adolf von Baeyer, a German chemist who in 1905 received the Nobel Prize in chemistry for his work on organic dyes. © 2007 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
