Abstract

The effective management of food chemical concentration data is critical when conducting a large-scale project such as a total diet study (TDS). The importance of following a comprehensive data management process is crucial to ensure the data generated from a TDS is of high quality, accurate and representative of the food supply for the chemicals under investigation. Various aspects of good data management practice are covered in detail including methods of data validation such as quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA), data security and data interpretation including a description of analytical limits and the treatment of trace and non-detect results.
