Abstract

The article discusses the design of the signal distribution scheme for the PCB. A well designed signal distribution scheme must begin at the system level. Proper assignment of I/O and partitioning of functionality to the PCBs in the system should be performed with goals to minimize the number of interconnects and their lengths, provide an evenly distributed and well balanced signal-to-ground pin ratio, and protect particularly vulnerable signals. The manner by which the signals are distributed within the outlines of the PCB should then be carefully considered.
