Abstract

Athletic Footwear and Orthoses in Sports Medicine is a concise manual which provides a logical approach to prescribing footwear that will maximize performance and minimize injury in athletes. From fundamentals-including athletic foot types, basic biomechanics and gait evaluation to step-by-step guidance through assessment and prescription of shoes, inserts, and orthoses, this book is both comprehensive and easily accessible. A wealth of sport-specific recommendations and referral, coding and billing are all addressed. Photographs and drawings clearly illustrate key concepts. Wherever relevant, the authors have incorporated evidence-based medicine. By presenting essential information in a convenient format, Athletic Footwear and Orthoses in Sports Medicine will prove to be invaluable for sports medicine physicians, podiatrists, physical therapists, and athletic trainers. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2010 All rights reserved.
