Abstract

In this paper, a digital image encryption scheme based on the hybrid chaotic system is proposed. A three-order Cellular Neural Network (CNN) with complex dynamical behavior and Logistic chaotic map are employed in the encryption scheme. The output sequences of two chaotic systems are combined effectively by using a special method, and a fast image encryption is realized by means of the bit-wise XOR operations. The results of the security analyses indicate that this encryption scheme not only has a large key space but also has a very sensitivity with respect to the encryption key. The encryption scheme proposed in this paper possesses perfect diffusion and confusion properties and it can resist the know-plaintext attacks and chosen-plaintext attacks. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.
