It is crucial for educational issues to be placed and discussed in their own contexts. This chapter provides a national framework, including socio-economic, cultural and legislative aspects of the country’s education and higher education system. Here readers are provided with fundamental facts and figures about Vietnam’s demographic characteristics, recent economic development and framework of educational legislation. This will help to shape a preliminary panorama of the system.
