Abstract

The author defines the term “crowdsourcing”. Current world trends of application of this method in various fields of knowledge are described. The analysis of the efficiency of its use in libraries in relation to the process of digitization of cultural heritage and putting it online is represented. Benefits of crowdsourcing before outsourcing for libraries are shown.
