Abstract

This paper notes the wide range of emotions which are found within the various texts of the Bible, and explores how a ‘grammar of emotions’ may be derived from them. It notes the ways in which emotions in the scriptures are distributed around various organs of the human body, and it explores two emotional extremes – anguish and tenderness – as they are related to Jesus, and to God.
