Abstract

This chapter provides an introduction to Critical Literacy Practice: Applications of Critical Theory in Diverse Settings. It describes the purpose of this book which is to show educators the application of critical theory through practice in diverse educational (kindergarten through university) settings. It then provides the layout of the book with brief summaries of each chapter. Through examples of critical literacy practice in various current research studies in and beyond the classroom, this book helps teachers, researchers, and teacher educators make clear connections between critical literacy theory and practice.
