Abstract

Children with CP may have pain associated with their condition even prior to having surgical procedures. This pain is typically of musculoskeletal, neurologic, and gastrointestinal origins. Many patients have chronic medical problems that need to be acknowledged as potential sources of pain. It is also not uncommon for children and adolescents with CP to have chronic pain syndromes. In this chapter, these issues along with the pain treatment modalities utilized following surgical procedures are discussed. Pain regimens and spasticity management for typical procedures are presented.
