Enterprise risk management is an important activity for health care organizations. New technologies can reduce some types of medical errors while at the same time introducing new errors. As a result, enterprise risk management has become an important activity for health care leaders to undertake. A number of methods can be used to prevent the occurrence of technology-induced errors prior to systems’ implementation. Clinical simulations are one such method that can be used to improve systems safety. In this book chapter, the authors review the issues associated with preventing technology-induced errors and outline how clinical simulations can be applied as a risk management approach to the prevention of technology-induced errors.
