Abstract

This is an overview of the current understanding of the pathomechanisms in graft rejection after keratoplasty. We discuss the experimental data on allorecognition and ACAID. We cover tissue typing of the human leuko-cyte antigen system and selected minor antigens. We give an overview of the clinical evidence in this fi eld. The chapter ends with a recommendation on the best clinical practices with respect to tissue typing in keratoplasty.
