Abstract

News Corporation is a diversified global media company. It operates through several divisions including filmed entertainment, television, cable network programming, direct broadcast satellite television, magazines and inserts, newspapers and information services, book publishing and other businesses. The company primarily operates in North America and Europe. The company is headquartered in New York City, New York and employs 55,000 people.; The company recorded revenues of $30,423 million during the financial year ended June 2009 (FY2009), a decrease of 7.8% over FY2008. The decline in revenue was primarily due to weak performance of television, filmed entertainment and other segments. The operating loss of the company was $5,650 million in FY2009, compared to operating profit of $5,381 million in FY2008. Its net loss was $3,378 million in FY2009, compared to net profit of $5,387 million in FY2008.
