Abstract

The vast majority of fibroids are found in the uterine corpus (95%), with approximately 5% occurring in the cervix. Though less common, cervical fibroids present additional challenges due to their proximity to the bladder, ureters, rectum, and the major vascular supply for the uterus. Evidence supporting the use of various surgical techniques to address cervical fibroids is limited, likely due to their relative infrequency compared to fibroids arising from the uterine corpus. In this chapter, we navigate the available literature and discuss some of the various pre-, intra-, and postoperative considerations involved with management of these challenging lesions.
