Abstract

The vast majority of immunoassays carried out fall into the category of enzyme immunosorbent assays. These are routinely used for the diagnosis of infectious agents such as viruses and other substances in blood. The antigen is the substance or agent to be measured. In this technique the antigen is immobilized onto a solid phase, either a reaction vessel or a bead.
