Abstract

When David Cameron became prime minister on 11 May 2010 the prime-ministerial records books had to be updated. He was (at 43) the youngest prime minister since 1812. He was the first Old Etonian prime minister since 1964. He had got to the top after the shortest length of service as a Member of Parliament (nine years) since 1783. He was the first prime minister to have been a special adviser. And he was the first PM heading a coalition since 1945.
