Abstract

Cyclodextrin (CD) effectively increased the steroid conversion and reduced reaction time because of its unique property of supramolecular. However, supramolecular structure of CDs caused more difficulties for later organic solvent extraction process. A continuous countercurrent extraction process for the recovery of hydrocortisone from the fermentation liquor has been developed. Flow ratio and extraction stages were predicted from the date of extraction equilibrium line. In the laboratory tests, the recovery of hydrocortisone through the extraction process was 98.81% with a flow ratio of 1:1 and 6 stages. This method improved the extraction rate and established separation extraction process by CDs reaction media.
