Abstract

Current and future cellular mobile networks, such as Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) and 5G, should provide wireless broadband access over radio channels for a growing number of users each day. However, in order to satisfy the service requirements of the User Equipments (UEs) applications, Radio Resource Management (RRM) mechanisms implemented in evolved NodeB (eNB) need to use efficient techniques to overcome limitations such as bandwidth scarcity, path loss, and channel fading. Therefore, this paper proposes a new channel-aware scheduling algorithm. Evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm is able to improve the cell edge throughput if compared to other algorithms. In addition, it offers better fairness performance.
