Fetal surgery is a rapidly developing subspecialty derived from the close collaboration of many different professionals committed to the care of a sick fetus and his mother. The promise of fetal surgery is that the earliest possible intervention for a life-threatening or disabling fetal disorder may produce the best results. Herein, we will briefly summarize historical and latest scientific achievements in the treatment of some congenital anomalies, with special emphasis on the contribution of fetal MRI to their prenatal diagnosis and perinatal management.
