In this paper it is presented a platform to be used in an agricultural scenario. This platform has been built using distributed applications developed by interconnected modules. The modules are communicated by sockets on TCP/IP. The architecture allows the programmer to develop a high number of interconnected applications with a high level of flexibility. Different modules will be used depending on the application. One of the developed applications is the autonomous guidance of a tractor using GPS and electronic compass. This and other applications have been tested with success in a real world environment. © Springer-Verlag 2006.
