Over the past ten years, there has been steady growth in the identification of allergen sequences. Different research institutions have built allergen databases for the integration and screening of allergens, thus serving scientific research and medical applications. However, as fewer and fewer new allergens are being identified, it is time for the establishment of standards with the goal of perfecting allergen databases so that they can serve not only as a allergen query platform that allows more effective use of allergen information, but also be an excellent database, i. e., be comprehensive, non-redundant, stringent, accurate, and able to analyze allergen functions.
