SINIF ÖĞRETMENLERİNİN SINIFTA KULLANDIKLARI BİLGİ İLETİŞİM TEKNOLOJİLERİNE YÖNELİK OLUMSUZ TUTUMLARI VE YAŞADIKLARI SORUNLAR

Abstract

This paper aims to determine negative attitudes of primary school teachers’ towards using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) which exist in their classroom, and to identify problems which the teachers have with these products. Survey method, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. Criterion sampling method, which is among purposive sampling methods, was used in the research and 117 primary school teachers who work in Sivas were included into the study. The data collection tool was prepared on the basis of a questionnaire which Türel (2012) used at a research paper, named “Teachers’ Negative Attitudes towards Interactive Whiteboard Use: Needs and Problems”. The data gained from this study were analyzed by using percentage, frequency, arithmetical mean, the t-test and ANOVA. At the result of analysis of the collected data, it is revealed that the primary school teachers do not display negative attitudes towards Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which exist in their classrooms. However, they showed negative attitudes with the thoughts that these products are not suitable for every lesson, so they do not prefer using them; instead they preference to use the blackboard and that the interest of students will decrease over time. It is found that the speed of the internet ,available at Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in classrooms of the primary school teachers, at school, is not enough; Prepared activities are not suitable with the course objectives; There are technical problems at using these products and they have problems with reaching technical staff who eliminate these problems. In addition, primary school teachers’ attitudes towards Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and problems lived with these products were analyzed according to gender and occupational seniority variable.
