Abstract

The background of the emerging study of maritime geography is reviewed, followed by discussion of some basic condtions in establishing the field educationally and by research in schools and elsewhere. Maritime geography is considered in terms of basic structure, the process of man/sea relationships, and the special significance of the human dimension in the geographical study of the sea. -Author
