Periarticular fractures of the distal tibia remain among the more challenging of fractures for the orthopedic surgeon. Because of the limited soft tissue envelope and somewhat tenuous blood supply to the distal metaphysis, “biology-friendly” fixation techniques have become increasingly popular in recent years, and have led to the development of low-profile, anatomic implants. We describe herein our techniques for percutaneous ORIF of these problematic fractures.
