Abstract

This paper explores the nature of service phenomena, the processes underlying these phenomena, and how these processes create value. This exploration begins with an initial model of service processes and then progressively adds various contextual elements to elaborate the notion of a service value chain. This exploration provides the basis for an overarching hypothesis about services.
