Abstract

A dissipation conditioned stochastic model for the evolution scalar concentration fluctuations in turbulent flows is formulated. The model reproduces accurately observed distributions of scalar concentrations and the extreme intermittency of scalar time derivatives. The spectral function for scalar concentration fluctuations is consistent with the predictions of Kolmogorov-Obukhov-Corrsin theory. © 2007 American Institute of Physics.
