DINAMIKA SOSIAL EKONOMI MASYARAKAT DISEKITAR PERKEBUNAN KELAPA SAWIT PTPN XIII GUNUNG MELIAU TAHUN 1996-2014

Abstract

AbstrackThis research is entitled "Socio-Economic Dynamics of Communities Around OilPalm Plantation PTPN XIII Gunung Meliau 1996-2014". The purpose of thisstudy was to describe how the transition of oil palm plantations from PTP VII toPTPN XIII Gunung Meliau in 1996-2014 and how the impact of PTPN XIIIGunung Meliau on the socio-economic conditions of the Meliau community in1996-2014. From this research, it is known that in 1981 PTPN was established inMeliau Regency which was brought by people from Pematang Siantar, NorthSumatra. Before becoming PTPN XIII this company was named PTP VII andchanged to PTPN XIII on March 11, 1996. In 2014 there was a change in thecapital structure followed by a change in the legal status of PTPN XIII (Persero)to become a subsidiary of PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero), causingchange of name from PT Perkebunan Nusantara XIII (Persero) to PT PerkebunanNusantara XIII. The existence of PTPN XIII Gunung Meliau has brought changesto the social and economic life of the community, such as increasing publicawareness of the importance of education and health.Keywords: Social Dynamics, Economy, Oil Palm Plantation
