Abstract

Davilla kunthii A. St. -Hil. (Dilleniaceae) has wide plant distribution. His family adds a significant amount of new substances as well as important biological activities. The most common use is in alternative medicine to fight some diseases, but studies show different biological activities of pharmacological interest. The literature on the bioactivity of D. kunthii is incipient. For this reason, the objectives of this work are to verify the biological effects of extract from the leaves of D. kunthii through bioassays against pathogenic microorganisms Escherichia coli, Salmonella tiphymurium (gram-negative bacteria), Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus sanguinis (bacteria Gram-positive), the fungus-type yeast Candida albicans and filamentous fungi Aspergillus flavus and Fusarium proliferatum. And check the reducing activity of acetylcholinesterase enzyme, and also observed the antioxidant activity via DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hidrazila) and toxicity against microcrustacean A. saline. The results showed significant antioxidant activity, antimicrobial, reaching 90% inhibition of the yeast C. albicans at all concentrations.
