(from the chapter) Research related to the efficacy of breast cancer screening is presented. Literature related to adherence for mammography and breast self-examination, respectively, is reviewed, with attention to both descriptive and intervention studies. Following the review of each topic, methodological and design problems, as well as future research issues, are addressed. The major studies published from the early 1980s to the early 1990s are described. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
