Abstract

This study reveals the development of fiqh science the Palembang Darussalam Sultanate era. This development coincided with other Islamic disciplines, such as aqidah, tasawuf, falak, and shair. Many works created during this period made Palembang the centre of Islamic science around the 18th and 19th centuries, after the setback of Aceh. The tradition of Islamic sciences continued to develop until the 20th century. The study of fiqh in the Palembang period turned out to be different from the previous period. The discipline of fiqh was embodied and integrated with other Islamic sciences in one manuscript. The structure, of course, is different from most fiqh books. This is because the Palembang ulama often wrote matters related to aqidah, fiqh, and tasawuf in one work, with a random and distinct pattern. Thus, in the Palembang era, the study of fiqh can be considered as integrated fiqh, due to its integration with other sciences.
