Abstract

It is a matter of common experience that simple nonlinear differential equations often have many solutions which exhibit complicated and erratic time dependence. For low dimensional systems there has recently been considerable progress made on the problem of describing such motion. This gives one optimism for understanding physical systems whose principal qualities can be described by a small number of modes
