The new Porsche wind tunnel in the research and development center in Weissach has been put into operation in 2015 as part of a new integrated building complex, also comprising a new automotive design studio and extensive model workshops. Major improvements of this wind tunnel over the existing one include augmented ground effect simulation technologies for production and race cars, increased maximum wind speed up to 300 kph and suitability for aeroacoustic testing. The present publication describes the fundamental ideas driving this concept, as well as technical key features of the new wind tunnel.
