The Bruttium: a land nestled between the ancient Italìa and Kalavrìa, whose history is fully interconnected with the wider context of the Byzantine Mediterranean Sea. This contribution aims to reanalyse events and dynamics of the diverse identities which have inhabited it (e.g. Pagans, Jews, Greek and Latin Christianity, Arabs) paying particular attention to their intertwining, to the shape of an inclusive cohabitation, inserting them in the wake of the Greco-Roman past but also projecting them into the future to reevaluate the landscape forms and its cultural heritage with an eye to the prospect of an economic and social recovery on firm cultural foundations.
