Abstract

Striped chorus frog Pseudacris triseriata and green frog Rana clamitans are found on the island only. Blue-spotted salamander Ambystoma laterale, two-lined salamander Eurycea bislineata and mink frog R. septentrionalis are found in Labrador only. American toad Bufo americanus, wood frog R. sylvatica and northern leopard frog R. pipiens are found in both sections of the province. All 6 species confirmed for Labrador are native there. All 5 species found on the island have been introduced but have spread, naturally and with human assistance, from their original sites of introduction. Two additional species the eastern redback salamander Plethodon cinereus and the spring peeper Hyla crucifer have been reported from Labrador, but their status remains hypothetical.-from Author
