TANAP (Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project), one of the most important elements of the Southern Gas Corridor with consisting of three parts called as South Caucasus Pipeline, Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline and Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, has emerged as a strategic cooperation project between Azerbaijan and Turkey. The purpose of this project is to transport natural gas, which is produced from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz-2 gas field through Turkey to Europe. TANAP is projected to connect to the TAP Pipeline following the territory of Turkey and to convey Azerbaijan’s gas to the interiors of Europe. This study is examining and discussing the energy policies of Turkey and Azerbaijan, and the economic and politic advantages of TANAP project both for Azerbaijan and for Turkey.
