Abstract

E-proctoring or remote monitoring of examinations is a recent and expanding phenomenon in Latin American higher education. This article identified the research objectives described in the literature on the use of this technology in the university context. A systematic review was carried out based on the criteria of PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses): 1) identification of information sources in Web of Science and Scopus using a search equation; 2) elimination of duplicate items by author and title; 3) screening from the revision of the title, abstract and inclusion and exclusion criteria; and 4) complete review of screened articles for eligibility. The findings were categorized into four: effectiveness of e-proctoring; reconfiguration of relations between educational actors; perceptions of students and teachers; and factors involved in the acceptance and implementation of e-proctoring.
