Abstract

Health care‐associated infection (HAI) rates increased over the last decade. However, mortality rates decreased, suggesting the improved diagnosis and management of HAIs. Nonetheless, significant disparities exist in the hospital and demographic attributes associated with major cancer surgery associated HAIs, which remain detrimentally linked to in‐hospital mortality.
