The aim of the present work is to analyze the importance of financial competence linked to emotional competencies. The work has a socio-critical approach, based on a fundamentally descriptive methodology in the context of a proposal for innovation and improvement of university teaching at the University of Castilla- La Mancha (Spain). The financial reduction that is occurring in the public aid systems, the changes in demographic profiles and the transformations in the economic world, favor the greater concern about the level of financial competence, not only to improve the quality of education, but also as a generating and coresponsible source of personal and social problems. The results reveal the importance of these competences in the training of university teachers to prepare citizens committed to a more democratic and solidary world. Based on the results of the study it is concluded that a good teacher is that who knows how to capture the emotions of his/her students and is capable of conducting them to have success in their life.
