Abstract

Our contemporary world has become global in the sense that it is an undivided space of human intercommunication - an ecumene, a network of networks. I suggest that the concept of ecumene may obviate some of the limitations that have been identified in the sociocentric notions that marked the social sciences during the twentieth century.
